Profile Allison Kern co-founded Morro Ventures in 2018 with Cyril Meduna, under the auspices of Advent-Morro Equity Partners, a leading private equity firm in Puerto Rico. Since its inception, Morro Ventures has been a driving player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, investing in regionally-scalable, early-stage startups across diverse technology verticals in the Caribbean and Latin America. Education and Early Career Allison graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She began her career in investment banking in London at the Royal Bank of Scotland, working across several teams and industry groups, including advisory work for the bank's internal private equity holdings. Venture Capital Experience Allison joined Morro Ventures in March 2017 from StarVest Partners, a $250 million expansion-stage venture capital fund based in New York, where she evaluated investment opportunities and supported portfolio growth. Prior to StarVest, she was an investment analyst at an emerging markets-focused hedge fund within the Carlyle Group. Role at Morro Ventures As a partner at Morro Ventures, Allison leads deal sourcing, investment evaluation, and portfolio management across the Caribbean and Latin America. She leverages her global financial expertise and venture capital experience to identify high-potential startups, support founders, and drive regional innovation.
