Profile Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Jose Tomas Echeverria is a finance professional and early-stage investor focused on expanding Morro Ventures’ footprint across Latin America. He brings a strong background in investment research, risk management, and venture capital portfolio management. Jose Tomas joined Morro Ventures in April 2022 and is committed to identifying and supporting high-potential startups across emerging markets in the region. Education & Early Career Jose Tomas graduated from the School of Business & Economics at the Universidad de Chile with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. During university, he completed a six-month internship at Advent-Morro Equity Partners, Morro Ventures’ affiliate firm, following a three-month internship at Hilton Worldwide’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Investment Experience Before joining Morro Ventures, Jose Tomas spent three years at Consorcio, one of Chile’s leading insurance companies with over US$10 billion in assets under management. As part of the Investment Risk & Research team, he analyzed credit operations across multiple sectors, including financial services, infrastructure, and automotive, with deal sizes ranging from US$10 million to US$800 million. He also served as a portfolio manager for Consorcio’s US$10 million Corporate Venture Capital program, evaluating and managing investments in innovative startups. Role at Morro Ventures As a Senior Associate at Morro Ventures, Jose Tomas focuses on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting early-stage investment opportunities across Latin America. He plays a key role in expanding the firm’s regional presence, leveraging his analytical expertise, sectoral knowledge, and on-the-ground experience to help scale high-growth companies throughout the region.
